The small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have been challenged to take advantage of the vast opportunities within the Chinese market to enhance viability.
Speaking at the launch of the SMEs showcase market in the capital, the SMEs owners said market linkages and accessibility remain a major challenge for them.
The Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Huang Ping said China’s economy continues to grow and the local SMEs sector should take advantage of the cordial relations that exist between the two countries by tapping into that economy for growth.
The Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Cde Walter Mzembi said it is high time the country organise and formalise the SMEs sector as it is now the new economy.
The government through the Ministry of SMEs reassured its commitment to continue supporting the sector through funding schemes, training in business management skills and technology transfer.
The new platform that was launched will enable SMEs owners to showcase their products on weekly basis and has already attracted more than 60 exhibitors.
