Small scale miners in Chegutu have hailed Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa for winning the presidential election and expressed hope that his government will further strengthen the production capacity of the mining sector.

Small scale miners operating under the banner of Danangwe District Youth in Mining Co-operative, in Chegutu said they hope the incoming government will carry forward the hopes and aspirations of the small scale mining sector which is producing quite a substantial amount of gold in the country.

Secretary General of the Chegutu based mining cooperative, Hillary Run’anga said it is the hope of small scale miners that the President-elect Cde Mnangagwa and his government will continue to regularise operations of the sector through policies that enhance mineral production.

Vice secretary of the co-operative, Tendai Muruviwa, appealed to government for more assistance in the form of the provision of better, mining equipment to small scale miners some of whom have not been able to access funding from banks.

He hailed the ongoing establishment of gold centres saying they will help plug-in gold leakages and bring convenience to miners since the centres offer comprehensive services.

The small scale mining sector is set to undergo massive reforms meant to enhance production.
