Small scale miners have called on the government to provide capital for their mines in order to ensure that they boost production.
The Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Mr Wintson Chitando toured small scale mines in Filabusi and Bubi districts to observe the challenges faced by these miners and find ways to help them in their production.
Speaking to journalists during the tour, Mr Chitando said he will make sure funding for the small scale miners is provided.
Some small scale miners in Filabusi produce about 15kg of gold per month whilst those in the lower levels produce at least 1.5kg.
One of the small scale miners, Mr Khumbulani Moyo, said due to financial constraints they are unable to fully exploit the mineral.
Minister Chitando said they are set to commission one of the first service centres in Bubi while more service centres are yet to be established in Kezi, Silobela and Shamva.
