Former ZIFA vice president Omega Sibanda has criticised the association after being handed a life ban by the local football governing body.
Never ending football drama continues to unfold in Zimbabwe with life bans inflicted on Phillip Chiyangwa and Sibanda who has launched an aggressive attack on ZIFA.
Legal expert Advocate Lewis Uriri said due process needs to be the primary consideration in sanctions that have historically proven to be unprocedural.
Chiyangwa is being charged with bringing the game into disrepute after allegedly submitting an incomplete bid to host this year’s edition of the COSAFA tournament which resulted in the country being barred from participating in next year’s tourney while Sibanda is on the other hand being charged with interfering in a matter which was before one of the association’s judicial bodies.
Following the life bans, Chiyangwa and Sibanda will no longer be allowed entry into all ZIFA sanctioned football matches played in Zimbabwe, meetings and conferences.
