Local content policy is expected to dominate the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) annual congress slated for next month following the success of Statutory Instrument 64 of 2016.

The government seeks to come up with a local content policy aimed promoting the purchase of local products by various government departments and the private sector.

ZNCC president Mr Davison Norupiri said the annual congress will deliberate on some of the issues affecting the growth of the economy and successes achieved by SI 64.

Mr Norupiri said local content policy is welcome as it is the only solution to promote local productivity considering that raw materials can be accessed locally.

The annual congress comes at a time when industry has recorded an increase in industrial capacity utilisation and productivity has also improved which has seen a number of companies setting up manufacturing plants locally.
