Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Cde David Musabayana has commended the Johane Masowe Wechishanu Apostolic Church for complimenting government efforts in improving health delivery systems.
As part of their social responsibility the Johane Masowe Wechishanu Church led by Madzibaba Simba Nengomasha decided to conduct its weekend church services at Wedza District Hospital where they also donated blankets, foodstuffs and other hospital consumables for use at the hospital which is facing a number of challenges.
“We have come in a small way but we hope the donation we have brought will be able to change lives and improve the provision of health,” said Madzibaba Nengomasha.
Cde Musabayana who received the donation on behalf of the hospital commended the church for the kind gesture at a time some churches are shunning use of health facilities.
“This is very commendable especially coming from an apostolic church were some are still shunning use of health facilities,” he said.
Wedza district medical officer, Dr Lloyd Musawu outlined the hospital’s challenges.
“We need assistance in all forms as we are struggling to service our patients due to lack of resources,” said Dr Musawu.
The church also donated similar items to Idube Clinic in Wedza.
Wedza Hospital, which was recently conferred the status of a district hospital is facing a number of challenges chief among them lack of infrastructure with the male ward being housed in a small round hut which has space for only three beds while the female ward has five beds with the post natal ward having 7 beds.
