Government has encouraged people with disabilities to embark on income generating projects and wean themselves from being dependent on others for survival.
This came out during a food handover ceremony in Dzivarasekwa this Thursday (today).
Member of Parliament for Dzivarasekwa, Cde Omega Hungwe has encouraged people living with disability to engage in income generating projects to sustain themselves as dependency on donors and the community will always leave them disappointed.
“People living with disabilities need to be remembered in the community by assisting them with their vital needs,” said Cde Hungwe.
People living with disabilities commended the support by government and called for assistance to help them start projects that can sustain them.
“We appreciate the donation by the Member of Parliament because some of us we are not able to work,” said some of the beneficiaries.
Over 60 people living with disability benefited from the handouts which included mealie meal, rice and sugar.
