The First Lady buys fruits and vegetables from vendors along the road on her way to Ponesai Vanhu Children’s Home in Shamva

Sexual offences and domestic violence cases remain Zimbabwe’s top priorities that need urgent redress.

This comes as the First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa toured Ponesai Vanhu Children’s Home in Mashonaland Central Province as part of efforts to transform the lives of vulnerable children.

Amai Mnangagwa said traditional leaders, the community and other stakeholders must join hands in fighting child abuse, sexual related offences and domestic violence.

She said such crimes affect the well being of children.

Traditional leaders in the province promised to partner the First Lady in her call to prevent child abuse and domestic violence.

A cross section of elderly women in the province said the visit by the First Lady will go a long way in improving social relations among communities.

As per tradition, Amai Mnangagwa showered all the children’s homes in the province with gifts and she categorically made it clear that her programme is meant for every disadvantaged Zimbabwean child.

Christmas comes once in a year and this was true for children in the province as the First Lady distributed food to all the children.

The crowd was thrilled by a traditional dance group that lived beyond their expectations.

It was fairly a long journey to Ponesai Children’s Home and along the way, just like every other Zimbabwean women, the First Lady bought fruits and vegetables from vendors along the highway.
