The Zimbabwe Warriors’ preparations for the 18th edition of the COSAFA tournament set for South Africa from the 27th of May to the 9th of June might be in jeopardy amid claims that some of the players likely to feature do not possess the required travelling documents.
With coach, Sunday Chidzambwa hinting on his intention to maintain the same squad for the COSAF and the September AFCON qualification tie against Congo Brazaville, some of the expected European based players might fail to turn up unless a miracle happens for them to secure travelling documents in a wink.
Speaking after holding separate marathon meetings with ZIFA and the coach, Warriors Manager, Wellington Mupandare said exceptional players from the premier soccer league will be fused with European based youngstars.
“We have held separate meetings with ZIFA and the coach. The announcement of the provisional squad might be delayed since we are engaging with relevant authorities to facilitate travelling documents for the European based players.
Reading in between the lines, British based players are set to play for the Warriors since Chidzambwa has done it before.
