Football analysts have urged ZIFA to consider setting up a database to monitor junior players from grassroots tournaments.
Junior football development calls for a stakeholder involvement and football analysts believe that the country is losing exceptional players who feature in junior tournaments, hence the need to come up with a database to monitor and keep track of these players.
Pearson Mangwende said only a database from the district level can save the football mother body the agony of losing players, while Walter Sengai said top flight teams should have junior teams featuring alongside them as is the case in the South African league.
ZIFA Technical Director, Wilson Mutekede conceded that more players disappear since they are not documented but believes that the database will only work if players brought for district competitions are a true reflection of the talent.
Mutekede said ZIFA will soon roll out a programme to combat age cheating for the development of junior football.
ZIFA Technical Director also sang the right hym of football development through plans to establish U-15 provincial tournaments.
