A 45-year-old Harare woman, Pertners Zvabva has appeared in court on allegations of fraud involving more than US$100 000.
It is the state’s case that sometime in January this year, Zvabva presented herself to Joseph Tofa as Nyasha Zvobgo, a high court judge and the daughter to the late former Minister, Edison Zvobgo.
She duped Tofa into paying US$110 000 for a Mabelreign house which she claimed to be selling.
According to the state papers, Zvabva also convinced Tofa that she had the capacity to secure trucks on his behalf at affordable prices before she instructed him to pay ZWL$20 000.
It is further alleged that using the same method, Zvabva claimed ZWL$10 000 from Tofa after claiming that she had connections to secure British visas which the victim and his other three colleagues were seeking.
After realising that nothing came to fruition in all the deals, Tofa made a police report leading to Zvabva’s arrest.
Meanwhile, Harare Magistrate, Learnmore Mapiye is set to rule on Zvabva’s bail application this Friday.
Last week on Thursday, Zvabva also appeared before Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti on allegations of extortion involving ZAR2 500 from Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries leader, Prophet Walter Magaya.
