A photographer who is working with a number of renowned South African celebrities in the showbiz Jaison Makara is making a name for himself after he learnt his trade from the internet.
Jaison Makara was raised in what he calls a dark room where his parents were photographers. A darkroom is a little room which was used to develop photographs back then, little did he know he would fully immerse himself in the works that was known as a great profession by his parents when he was a little boy.
Makara says he would go on the internet and watch YouTube videos where he learnt camera settings, lighting, color grading, cheaper gear to use for high quality productions and the importance of sets and props.
The photographer has also had the opportunity to work with names such as Mduseve and Qeqeshiwe Mntambo and renowned Yizo yizo artist Israel Matseke from South Africa.
Makara also worked with the director of operations and film editor for Umtshayo season 2 produced by Patrick Mabhena on a soapie about two families fighting over inheritance.
Even though he did not go to formal school to learn photography, Makara says his passion carries him through.
“A picture says a million words”, says Makara who believes in telling the Zimbabwean story through photography.
Currently he is working on a music video by Maziya, a Zimbabwean artist based in the United Kingdom.
