Mashonaland East Province has selected Seke district as the venue for this year’s Zanu PF People’s Conference.

The announcement was made by the Zanu PF provincial chairman Cde Joel Biggie Matiza at the Mashonaland East Provincial Coordinating Committee (PEC) meeting in Marondera.

He said committees to lead the preparations for hosting the conference are expected to be announced next week.

“We have selected Seke because of its proximity to Harare for logistical purposes,” said Cde Matiza.

Addressing the same meeting, Mashonaland East Minister of State Cde Apolonia Munzverengwi appealed to the Zanu PF leadership to bring order in areas where there are illegal settlers.

“I appeal to the party leadership to cooperate with government officials in normalising areas occupied by illegal settlers,” she said.

Mashonaland East last hosted the Zanu PF National People’s Conference in 2008 which was held in Goromonzi district.
