As efforts to court investors in various sectors of the economy intensify, the Securities Commission has organised a symposium to showcase local capital markets and investment opportunities.

Securities Commission of Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Alban Chirume, said sharing information with investors as well as bringing to light how the local market works is important in generating investor interest.

“We have to go out and sell ourselves,” Mr Chirume said.

The Zimbabwean delegation will include several players from the private sector and government.

It will be led by Finance Minister, Mr Tendai Biti who is expected to deliver the key note address and Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Minister, Cde Savior Kasukuwere who will speak on the country’s indigenisation laws.

Figures from the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange show that market capitalisation which averaged US$3.5 billion since January rose to US$3.7 billion in October.

Market watchers are optimistic if volumes continue to improve the market could become a source of fundraising for companies in need of fresh capital injection.
