Queasier government institutions in the telecommunications sector have committed their institutions to providing a seamless service to communities in Gwanda South and the entire Matabeleland South Province.

The commitment to provide cellular phone services to the Gwanda South community was made by the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Cde Supa Mandiwanzira when he addressed people at Manama business centre.

He said it is the duty of the Postal and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (POTRAZ) to invest the universal services fund in providing telecommunication services infrastructure and build at least 250 base stations in the country some of which will be in Matabeleland South.

He further committed his ministry to establish a community information centre at Manama business centre for the benefit of the rural community saying it is the vision of President Robert Mugabe to see rural communities accessing information technology services.

Minister Mandiwanzira who was in Gwanda at the invitation of Cde Abednico Ncube the Gwanda South member of the house of assembly, further stated that the fibre link between Bulawayo and Beitbridge will also help schools to access high speed internet for the e-learning purposes.

Schools were also challenged to invest in computer laboratories for the benefit of their students.
