The opening of the school term is usually associated with parents engaged in last minute shopping as well as preparations to ensure scholars make their way to schools.
There was a hive of activity as parents saw off students, many of whom destined for boarding schools.
Parents, who were giving last minute instructions to their children at the Robert Mugabe Square in Harare today, said despite times being tough, they have managed to ensure their children will be in class tomorrow.
The students, many of whom indicated that the holidays were a time to study seriously, said they will ensure that the sacrifice made by their parents will translate into good results.
An educationist, Mr Peter Chikamhi said it is heartening that most parents are prioritising their children’s education with the prospects of the start of the new term being very positive.
The second term is usually associated with examinations in June for both Advanced and Ordinary level students.
