The Bulawayo community will this year be a part of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel and Tourism Expo as the 8th of this month has been designated a public day.
Unlike last year where the local community was never officially invited to be a part of the tourism expo, this time around the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has announced that the 8th of September will be a public day where the community of Bulawayo and the region will be allowed to come into the ZITF grounds the venue for this year’s expo.
In an interview with the ZBC News, the Executive Director National Conventions Bureau, Mrs Tesa Chikaponya said expectations are that the Bulawayo community will come in their numbers on the public day to sample the country’s hospitality and interact with international buyers and other players in the industry.
325 companies are participating, 77 of which are foreign participants, with South Africa having the largest contingent with 25 exhibitors.
“Sanganai is for the people and we want the Bulawayo community to come in their numbers so that they sample the country’s hospitality as you know that without people there is no tourism. They must also taste the local dishes and be inspired to be a part of domestic tourism,” she said.
Exhibitors who were sprucing up their stands said they are happy to be a part of this year’s exhibition and are looking forward to a fruitful exhibition at the country’s premier tourism expo.
The Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism and Travel Expo is set to unveil the country as a preferred destination for tourists to tap into the multi-billion dollar tourism industry that has become a global player in economic development.
