The MDC Alliance have for the first time admitted that sanctions are part of their strategy to remove the ruling party Zanu PF.

The revelations emerged at a rally in Chiweshe where party leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa told the electorate the sanctions will only be removed if they vote them into power.

The continued imposition of sanctions on Zimbabwe by the United States of America follows a clarion call by Advocate Chamisa and Tendai Biti to ensure they remain in place even under the new dispensation.

Despite the glaring years of continued suffering by ordinary citizens due to illegal sanctions, Chamisa told the Chiweshe gathering that without them being voted into power sanctions will continue.

“Isu  patinenge  tapinda   tichaita  zvakawanda, izvezvi  vanhu  vakatemerwa  zvirango. Ndakaona America ichitaura, ndozvinoita  kuti tibvise  hurumende  iripo  iyi. (If we get into power we will achieve many things. We saw the US talking about it saying sanctions will help us to remove the current government),” said Chamisa.

Other partners in the alliance picked up on the promises that include introduction of bullet trains and went further to promise the villagers in Chiweshe that they will bring them aeroplanes.

MDC has been nicodemously calling for the imposition of economic sanctions on Zimbabwe to ensure the citizens suffer so as to force them to vote out the ruling Zanu PF party.

Observers have also questioned the reality of the alliance promises in view of what development these candidates have brought in their own constituencies.
