With just 4 days before the Warriors face Cape Verde in a crucial AFCON qualifier, events took an interesting turn this afternoon when immigration officials nailed down the yet to be unveiled Warriors gaffer, Tom Saintfiet.

Saintfiet was notified of the latest development by ZIFA Acting Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Mashingaidze while conducting the Warriors training session at the National Sports Stadium.

The Belgian did not take it kindly.

Saintfiet’s departure comes barely hours after the sports governing body the Sport and Recreation Commission had responded to ZIFA’s request for a support letter for the coach application for temporary employment and residence permit.

In their letter, the SRC sought justification as regards to the selection of Saintfiet ahead of other candidates, an itemized detail of his gross annual package and the taxes payable thereon.

Meanwhile, all the players who had been called up are now in camp ahead of the weekend match against Cape Verde.

However, Captain Benjani Mwaruwari did not train in the afternoon.

Cape Verde currently leads the group with 3 points, while the Warriors and Liberia are on one point.

Mali, who lost their first match anchors the group with no point.
