2016 was disastrous on the rugby front but the Sables have turned a new leaf with hope of a better season in 2017.
The Zimbabwean rugby side got off to a positive start with a 28-16 victory over Senegal on Saturday and team captain Denford Mutamangira was happy with the win shortly after the team’s arrival back home today.
The Africa Gold Cup opening win was a morale booster but head coach Cyprian Mandenge is aware tougher battles await with Zimbabwe set to play Namibia in their next encounter on July 15.
The Sables will this year play Senegal, Tunisia, Namibia and Uganda.
Zimbabwe is looking to post positive results as the nation braces up for 2018, a year which will determine the teams to compete at the 2019 World Cup.
