Disabled persons activist, who is also South African television presenter, media entrepreneur and motivational speaker, Nonhlanhla Bakasa is in the country to deliver a lecture dubbed: ‘Disabling the Can’t Mentality: An African Perspective on Disability and Women,’ at the Women’s University in Africa this Thursday.
Bakasa has co-presented Matrics Uploaded, a programme on SABC1.
She was also a presenter of Memba’z Uploaded, a youth talk show on the same television station.
On the way, wheelchair bound Bakasa has received awards for the work she has done in activism on disabilities.
Speaking ahead of Thursday’s lecture, the beautifully spirited motivational speaker, said she speaks to inspire other women and to reach out to their dreams.
Bakasa, who also runs life coaching programmes at schools and events, said the story of women struggling with issues such as disability knows no geographical boundaries, colour or class.
“Yes it can be done,” said the life skills coach, adding that her own life should serve as an example to other disabled persons that nothing is impossible.
