The visiting South African Defence Forces Commander, General Solly Shoke says joint tourism marketing initiatives and safeguarding of the peaceful environment is critical in the growth of the regional tourism industry.

General Shoke had a chance to tour the majestic Victoria Falls today describing the natural wonder as a rare beauty.

He said there is need to strengthen collaboration in the tourism sector in line with the SADC Protocol on the development of tourism.

General Shoke highlighted that apart from joint marketing efforts, the ability of the region to safeguard the obtaining peaceful environment is critical in the growth of the SADC tourism industry.

Under the SADC Protocol on the development of tourism, the regional bloc is confident of ensuring even distribution of tourism development throughout the region and to create a favourable environment for the sector, thereby using industry as a vehicle for socio-economic development.

The South African army chief who was accompanied by the officials from Musha Mukadzi Charity Organisation also saluted the team for its charity work and for creating a bright future for the armed forces’ families.
