ZIFA Chief Executive Officer, Henrietta Rushwaya, has been suspended with immediate effect.
In a statement, ZIFA President Cuthbert Dube said the suspension follows serious allegations of mis-conduct bordering on mismanagement, match fixing, bribery and being involved in betting syndicates.
Dube said the allegations were raised at the ZIFA board meeting held on the 24th of this month.
He added that the suspension has been necessitated by the nature of the allegations and the need for the investigating team to carry out its work without hindrance.
Rushwaya has been asked to hand over office keys in her possession to Jonathan Mashingaidze, the ZIFA Training and Development Manager who will now be the acting CEO.
Mr Dube said during the suspension period, Rushwaya is not permitted to visit ZIFA offices countrywide and not to interfere with the inquiry committee headed by ZIFA Vice President, Ndumiso Gumede.
