With the nation still busking in the glory of the Zimbabwe national soccer team’s 2-1 victory over Mali on Sunday, the Zimbabwe rugby team will be hoping to emulate the Warriors’ winning spirit when they lock horns with Uganda on Sunday.

After taking the team through its last training session ahead of the team’s departure for Uganda on Tuesday morning, Sables Assistant coach Cyprian Mandenge indicated a hunger for more preparation time.

Mandenge who takes charge of the Sables trip to Uganda owing to Brendon Dawson’s work commitments, expressed optimism ahead of Sunday’s crunch encounter with Uganda.

The Zimbabwe rugby team will be banking on Captain Daniel Hondo, Vice captain Costa Dinha as well as other established players such as Tangai Nemadire, and Prayer Chitenderu to secure the much needed victory.

The Sables were scheduled to leave the country at 2am on Thursday.

The team will catch a connecting flight in Kenya, before getting to their final destination Kampala.

The Sables who are in the same group as Ivory Coast and Madagascar play Uganda on Sunday afternoon.
