rugby1.jpgThe Zimbabwe Under 20 Rugby team continues with its preparations for the Junior World Rugby trophy set for Georgia at the end of this month and yesterday completed the final part of their fitness tests.

The fitness tests are aimed at ensuring that the players are in sound physical condition ahead of the impending challenge in Georgia.

On Sunday, the players were taken through strength testing before completing the second part of their fitness assessment by undergoing aerobic testing.

Young Sables coach Brighton Chivandire underscored the importance of the fitness tests.

“The tests are important because they give an indication of the progress the players have made in terms of conditioning and this is our final part,” said Chivandire.

On the challenge that is lying in wait on the global arena, Chivandire said he is looking forward to the competition and is counting on the experience of some of the players who took part in the Junior World Rugby Trophy in Russia to provide stability to the team.

Chivandire said:  “As the old saying goes, experience is the best teacher. They’ve been there and done that and know exactly what is expected so they’ll be the leaders in the team.”

The Junior World Rugby Trophy will be held in Georgia, starting on the 24th of this month.

The Zimbabwe Under 20 Rugby team is in Pool B with hosts Georgia, Canada and Japan.
