Foreign delegates to the Pan African Tourism Investment Summit to be held in the capital have started arriving in the country with most of them optimistic that the conference will showcase tourism investment opportunities in Zimbabwe and Africa.
Some of the high profile delegates who are already in the country include Africa Investor Chief Executive Officer Hubert Danso, United nations World tourism Organisation Secretary-General professor Geoffrey Lipmann, and Ministers of Tourism from Ghana, South Africa and Tanzania.
Over three hundred delegates including ten Ministers of Tourism from different African countries and more than five hundred foreign and international investors are expected to attend theÂ summit.Â
Delegates who spoke to ZBC News on arrival at the Harare International Airport said the three day summit and exhibitionÂ of this magnitude is important for Zimbabwe as it gives local businesses an opportunity to meaningfully engage one on one with prospective project financiers, strategic partners and foreign investors.
Earlier on in the day Ghanaian Minister of Tourism Juliana Azuma Mensah who arrived on Sunday and the CEO of Africa Investor visited the Minister of Tourism and hospitality industry Cde Walter Mzembi at Zimbabwe Tourism House where the issue of marketing Africa as one tourism destination was discussed.
Tourism Minister of Ghana honorable Mensah said the summit gives an opportunity for African countries to learn from each other and boost tourism in member countries.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Cde Walter Mzembi said Zimbabwe has a lot to learn from other countries especially from the way Ghana organises its annual tourism exhibition.
The summit is expected to attract high level representatives including those from government ministries and departments, state owned enterprises, national tourism organizations, financial institutions , investment and development co-operating partners.
The event is expected to give Zimbabwe the rare opportunity to position itself as an attractive and competitive investment destination.
