Zimbabwe’s junior tennis ace Rufaro Magarira powered to victory at the ITF Southern Africa regional tennis extravaganza following a 6-4, 6-3 straight sets win over South Africa’s Kelly Arends in a final held in Windhoek, Namibia.
Magarira asserted her dominance at the Southern Africa Tennis Championships after winning the girls under 16 final.
The Zimbabwean ace who was seeded second brushed off the challenge of her South African opponent Arends who was seeded fourth.
In the boys category, Benedict Badza put on a show against Toky Rainavo but, however, lost in a super tie break.
Badza lost the first set 6-1 but recovered and levelled matters with a 6-2 second set win.
In the decisive super tie break, Badza would lose 10-7 as Madagascar’s Rainavo claimed victory.
The ITF Southern African tennis extravaganza is a run up to the African Junior Championships which will be held in Benoni, South Africa.
