Hospitality concern, Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) is bullish of registering over 75% room occupancy level at its Rainbow Victoria Falls hotel by year end following the successful upgrade of the property under the $1 million refurbishment exercise.

The RTG registered a 12% increase in revenue during the financial year ending 31 December 2017 spurred by the strong performance of its Victoria Falls properties and is confident of a positive performance by the unit during the second half of the year.

The group has just completed the refurbishment of 88 rooms at the its Victoria Falls hotel under the $1 million product upgrade done in two phases

Rainbow Victoria Falls Hotel General Manager, Mr Christopher Svovah highlighted that the property continues to register positive figures and is confident that room occupancy will surge to around 75% by December this year.

“We have invested one million in the upgrading the 88 rooms which we feel will certainly change the guest experience. We have experienced strong performance during the first half of the year and we are confident of registering around 75% room occupancy level by December and a 25% jump in revenue,” he said.

Taking advantage of the heightened bookings and positive prospects for the Victoria Falls destination, the hospitality group is already mulling expansion of its room capacity in the resort town.

Of all the destinations in Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls registered the highest growth in occupancies from 47% in 2016 to 55% in 2017.

Meanwhile, RTG has handed over a donation of toilet sets and air conditioning units worth $2000 to Ndlovu Secondary School as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme.
