28 cases of theft of valuable properties from stationary vehicles have been reported within Bulawayo City’s parking bays over the past weekend, forcing the police to hold a road campaign against theft.
The robbers are targeting valuables such as mobile cellphones, computer laptops and hard cash.
ZRP Bulawayo Spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube said they have so far arrested 10 suspects, adding that the suspects are reportedly operating in gangs.
“From Friday to Sunday, there were 20 cases of theft in motor vehicles that were recorded. The thieves are using four cars to conduct the robberies. If they find the car locked they break the windows and steal items such as laptops, cell phones and cash,” he said.
To alert the public, police are carrying out road campaigns and urging the public to be attentive to their properties and to continue assisting police with information to curb these unlawful activities.
