Members of the public have called upon relevant authorities to put in place measures that will help reduce road carnage especially during this festive season.
With a few days left before the festive holidays, the travelling public has challenged the police and the Vehicle Inspection Department to try and prevent another blood bath on the countryâ€™s roads.
National traffic police spokesperson, Inspector Tigere Chigome however said road accident awareness campaigns have already commenced with the aims of urging drivers to adhere to road regulations.
The festive period normally records a sharp rise of fatalities on the countryâ€™s roads.
During last seasonâ€™s festive period, 38 people were killed in 28 accidents.
515 accidents were recorded during that period.
159 people were arrested for drunken driving while 2336 vehicles were impounded.
