The Registrar General’s Office has extended the mobile registration exercise countrywide to the 31st of January 2018.

In a statement to ZBC News, the Registrar General Mr Tobaiwa Mudede said the exercise which began on the 4th of September 2017, was supposed to have ended today.

Mr Mudede said the exercise entails the issuing of birth certificates, death certificates and national identity cards, and has been extended from the 1st of December to the 31st of January 2018.

The RG’s office says the documents will continue to be issued free of charge.

The exercise has so far issued a total of 584 195 national identity cards, 655 803 birth certificates and 19 322 death certificates.
