robert-mugabe-.jpgHead of State and Government and Commander-in-chief of the Zimbabwe Defence forces President Robert Mugabe who is also patron of the Zimbabwe war veterans association has urged war veterans to restore normalcy and order in the organisation which has been rocked by a power wrangle in recent months.

In a wide ranging discussion with journalists in the capital at Zimbabwe house in Harare, President Mugabe said the two feuding groups led by Jabulani Sibanda and Chinotimba splinter should sit down together at one meeting and resolve the leadership squabbles.

Cde Mugabe said the meeting should elect a leadership that will be mandated to lead the organisation and then organise the war veterans’ congress, adding that a split of the organization is not necessary.

The leadership wrangle in the war veterans association has resulted in the delay of the holding of the organisation’s congress after the two groups tried to organise the event separately.

Of late some provinces have come out publicly to support Cde Jabulani Sibanda after Cde Chinotimba had gone out on national TV announcing that he had ousted Cde Sibanda and that he was the new leader.

The president said the power to lead should be derived from the people as it is not a matter of self-imposition.
