dsc00029.jpgResidents from Harare’s Highfield and Glen Norah suburbs stormed the Highfield district offices to seek clarification on the issue of houses whose ownership was allegedly changed clandestinely by some MDC-T councilors.

The demonstrations by the residents come after some MDC-T councilors allegedly changed ownership of some council houses which led the courts to issue sitting tenants with eviction orders.

The residents demanded to have a word with the district officer and were granted but the district officer refused to divulge the contents of the meeting to the media.

The fuming residents questioned the caliber of some of the councilors who they allege are behind the eviction and changes in ownership of the houses.
Meanwhile the Harare City Council has through an unsigned press statement revealed that it is evicting three sitting tenants through the courts.

The same unsigned council statement does not clarify how the alleged councilors were caught up in the housing scam save to say no councilors ever evicted any tenant.

Efforts to get a comment from these MDC-T councilors were fruitless as their mobile phones were being answered by other people.
