Journalists have been urged to research more on insurance and pension promotion as this will assist them in providing relevant materials to the public.
This comes as the government has intensified efforts to revive various sectors of the economy and the insurance and pensions sector needs to be reformed so that it contributes meaningfully to the development of the country.
A workshop for journalists was held in Harare yesterday where IPEC Commissioner, Mr Tendai Karonga underscored the need for journalists understand the dynamics of insurance and provide relevant information to the people.
“Enriching the mind of the audience on the dynamics of the insurance environment helps society to demystify some of the complex products of insurance while the general public can have a better understanding of the insurance and pension,” said Mr Nhau Chivingira, the IPEC Manager.
Media is the watchdog of the society, hence journalists were further urged to continue engaging with audiences.
