Promotion of research and development is pivotal in accelerating economic growth through technological advancement with Chipinge’s Donald Mlambo Maziwati being cited as a candidate for such assistance and grooming.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Mr George Charamba who visited Chimanimani and Chipinge on Wednesday said his ministry is mauling an idea to form a new company that deals with broadcasting technology in a move that will save millions of dollars wasted through importation of broadcasting equipment.
he said research and development should be promoted as a core component of digitalisation programme while highlighting that talented, innovative and scientific young brains such as Maziwati of Chipinge who completed his project on amplifiers and is now working on drones should be supported to improve the country’s technological advancement.
Maziwati whose ambitions continue to influence his work is happy to have successfully developed his own amplifiers with his trademark.
He is now working on drone technology in the hope to impact positively on the country’s digital technology.
The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe chief executive officer Engineer Obert Muganyura identified Maziwati’s talent during the team’s previous visit to Chipinge and committed to continue rendering the young scientist support.
