Inspired by the late Mbira player Mbuya Madhuve, dancer Sasha Lishomwa is set to release an eight-track album titled Mutsindo next month paying tribute to the late Mbira musician.
The 35 year old traditional dancer has been in the Arts industry since the age of seven, and has finally found her way in the recording studio where she has produced her debut Mbira album titled Mutsindo.
Sasha who featured in almost all of Mbuya Madhuve’s albums as a backing vocalist says her late grandmother, who was born Edna Chizema is her source of inspiration and most of her compositions pay tribute to her.
With support from her husband, Sasha says she is hoping that one day she will make it among Zimbabwe’s top female musicians.
A renowned traditional dancer, she has great interest in the Nyau dance and her music reflects more of Zimbabwe’s traditional beat.
