akon zim.jpgThe Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Akon Show promoters, Zimswag and Zambezi Airline have entered into a deal which will see Rhythm and Blues and Dancehall fans from Zambia, Malawi, Botswana and Tanzania coming to Zimbabwe for the Akon/Sean Paul show scheduled for September 4.

The deal, which was signed in Lusaka, Zambia will see the three partners Z.T.A, Zimswag and Zambezi Airline partnering in promoting entertainment, with the first being the Akon/Sean Paul show at the National Sports Stadium.

The move will put Zimbabwe on centre stage as more people will be expected from the region.

Zambezi Airline Sales Manager, Mrs. Stella Milner said the Akon/Sean Paul concert is a big event that the region can boast of in the same way that Africa celebrated the World Cup in South Africa.

“Zimbabwe has once again made us shine as they are hosting a big event that will make Africa proud, following the footsteps of the World Cup in South Africa.

“It is from this noble cause that we have decided to partner with Zimbabwe in making this project big,”said Mrs. Milner.

Both Z.T.A Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Karikoga Kaseke and Zimswag Managing Director, Mr. Tendai Mupfurutsa hailed the partnership agreeing that it will put the country on the spotlight as Zimbabwe will not only be a home of entertainment but a tourist destination.

Thousands of people are expected to throng the 60 000-seater National Sports Stadium for the Akon/Sean Paul show on the 4th of next month.

Local artists Alick Macheso, Sulumani Chimbetu and Roki will also perform as well as two other artists from Zambia, one of them being their popular hip hop singer, Mr. Swag.
