Zimbabweans have been urged to treasure the ground work put in place by those who fought for the country’s liberation by embracing their history.
This call was made by the Member of the House of Assembly for Harare South Cde Hurbert Nyanhongo during a ZANU-PF Harare South belated Independence celebrations.
Cde Nyanhongo who organized the belated Independence celebrations in 13 districts in his constituency urged Zimbabweans to reflect on the great work done by liberation fighters who sacrificed their lives to break the colonial yoke.
Cde Nyanhongo castigated the actions of the MDC-T who snubbed the Islamic Republic of Iran President Mr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was in the country for the opening of the 51st edition of the ZITF saying such action was inspired by the fear of betraying their Western Allies.
The celebrations were also attended by senior ZANU PF members who joined together to enjoy Chimurenga music performances by various groups as people reflected on the gains made by the country on the last 30 years.
