The Meteorological Services (MET) Department says the rains recorded over the past few days and a cold spell in several parts of the country is expected to vanish during the course of the week as the rain season normally begins in mid November.

The MET department said the rains were due to pressure rises from the Indian Ocean and heavy cloud from the equatorial regions.

Senior forecaster at the MET Department, Mr Ebedia Hodera said normal weather conditions are expected during the course of the week as they anticipate the rainy season to begin in mid November.

As the country approaches the rainy season predictions are that normal to below normal rains are expected in the first half whilst normal to above normal rains are expected in the second half of the rainy season.
