Chairman of the committees, Mr. Nathaniel Madzivanyika, has called on political parties to refrain from violence, saying it affects the economy.

Other members – Mrs. Rose Chirenje and Mrs. Chichi Mogara – said there is need for every citizen to work with the police in creating a crime and violence-free society.

On Friday Police Officer Commanding Harare Province, Senior Assistant Commissioner Clement Munoriyarwa gave a stern warning to perpetrators of violence.

However, his call seemed to have fallen on deaf ears as barely 48 hours later, violent scenes were witnessed in Chitungwiza.
