Players in the Zimbabwe film and television industry have been implored to take advantage of the country’s rich cultural heritage and produce quality content that will necessitate the transformation of the of the local industry.

The call was made by Professor Huang Zhongjun on the sidelines of the China-Zimbabwe press seminar in Jinhua, China.

Professor Huang said television has become a multibillion dollar industry and Zimbabwe taking a cue from China can stimulate high-tech programme production through its diverse cultural heritage.

“In order to build a vibrant television industry, content producers should come up with products that appeal to the audience,” he said.

China has a growing television industry that is made up of more than 3000 television stations which are subdivided into national, provincial and municipal levels.
