President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the total buy in of government’s agricultural policies by the private sector is the answer to Zimbabwe’s food security problems.

The President who had been invited to Gwebi Agricultural College by a private player to view agricultural implements acquired from Russia, however, warned the private sector against abusing government’s financial and technical support to their businesses to profiteer at the expense of meaningful production and service provision to the people.

Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement Honourable Perrence Shiri said the visit by President Mnangagwa provides an opportunity for him to have a full appreciation of opportunities available in Russia for growth in the agriculture sector.

The private player David Tigere said the equipment from Russia, which is acquired at half its usual price, is fully serviced and repaired at local universities to deal with the forex challenges affecting industry.
