Transport operators should always prioritise life and safety of passengers through continuous adherence to road and traffic rules, the Deputy Minister of Information, Communication, Technology and Courier Services Cde Jerifan Muswere has warned.

Officially launching Econet Wireless “Vaya”, a home-grown uber service platform, this Friday in the capital, Cde Muswere emphasised that while the move is commendable in providing a convenient taxi system, transport operators should always strive to ensure passengers’ are safe every time.

The deputy minister expressed concern over the continuous loss of lives on the roads propagated by non-adherence to traffic safety rules.

He further hailed the telecoms giant for coming up with innovative ideas in and outside the communications fraternity.

Meanwhile, the company said the platform will go a long way in de-congesting the cities and bringing safety and efficiency in the transport sector.
