extracurricular.jpgA call has been made to schools to treat extra-curricula activities with the seriousness they deserve so as to help discover and nurture talents of pupils who might have academic challenges.

The call was made by the Provincial Education Director for the Harare Metropolitan Province, Mr. Calvin Mazula, who was Guest of Honor at a talent show held by the Herentals College at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex.

Mr. Mazula called on all schools to ensure that they prioritise extra-curricula activities to help nature pupils’ different talents at an early stage.

Speaking at the same occasion, the college’s Group Executive Director, Mr. Emmanuel Mahachi, said the activities are part of efforts to give pupils a chance to realise their other talents apart from academics as required by the Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture.

The talent show saw pupils from all the 15 colleges from around the country converging at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex to showcase their talents in different categories which included modeling, dancing, poetry, drama and sporting disciplines such as chess and darts.
