prices 14-11-11.pngPrices of most basic commodities have gone up marginally during this festive season even though retailers are recording low business returns.

In some countries, promotions and give away prices are the order of the festive season, but the story is not the same when it comes to local consumers following price increases that have been effected by some retailers.

The price increases have irked consumers.

However, retailers say they are just passing over the costs from manufacturers.

In the capital, prices of basics like mazoe, cereals and meat have gone up by between 30 cents and US$3, an increase which many consumers cannot afford given the low salaries.
