The President, Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe turns 93 today.

Cabinet ministers, members of staff in the President’s office and members of the First Family, Bona and Simba Chikore converged at New Munhumutapa Boardroom this Tuesday morning to congratulate the President on his 93rdbirthday.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police band are providing entertainment singing melodies from different church denominations including apostolic church, the President’s own church (Roman Catholic) and others.

Proceedings began with a poem from Reverend Paul Damasane thanking Cde Mugabe’s mother the late Ambuya Bona and then extolling President Mugabe’s leadership qualities, his pan Africanism and principles of freedom and Ubuntu.

He also extolled the President’s Gushungo totem and President Mugabe’s gentleman qualities and deportment.

In his speech, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda first read a congratulatory message from the office, praising the President for his continued defence of the people and the African continent and always standing up for justice.

The Office of the President and Cabinet pledged to work for success of the various socio-economic development programmes that government is rolling out for the nation.

Dr Sibanda presented three gifts comprising a compilation of visual arts from the National Gallery, an epitome of President Mugabe’s contribution to flourishing arts and culture in Zimbabwe and education.
