President Robert Mugabe left the country last night for Mexico to attend the global platform for disaster risk reduction.

He was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Minister of Environment, Water and Climate, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri and Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing, Cde Saviour Kasukuwere.

President Mugabe was seen off at the Harare International Airport by Vice Presidents, Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko, Defence Minister, Dr Sydney Sekeramayi, Minister of State Security, Cde Kembo Mohadi, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, senior government officials and service chiefs.

The global platform for disaster risk reduction has been held since 2007 for countries prone to natural and manmade disasters which include floods, hurricanes, droughts and earthquakes among other climate induced disasters.

Meanwhile, Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko is the acting president.
