President Robert Mugabe has left Harare for Mbabane, Swaziland, to attend the SADC Extra-Ordinary Summit whose theme is: ‘The SADC We Want’.
Foreign Affairs Minister Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi and Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Mike Bimha are already in Swaziland.
The summit will look at the industrialisation programme initiated by President Mugabe when he chaired the organisation in 2014-15.
Regional Economic Integration will also be deliberated on at the Mbabane summit.
The summit is a follow up to last year’s SADC summit in Swaziland which called for an extra ordinary summit every year to follow up on some of the agreements made during the meeting.
Hotspots like eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and the Lesotho political challenges that emanated from the recent dissolution of parliament by King Letsie III will also be discussed.
The summit is also expected to discuss the destruction caused by Cyclone Dineo in the region.
