Saturday was a normal working business day for President Emmerson Mnangagwa when he visited Univerm Enterprises (Pvt) Limited which provides integrated ICT solutions for ZINARA, other government departments and Agricon Equipment Zimbabwe, which provides agricultural technologies and innovations.
Cde Mnangagwa visited the company to get an appreciation of the integrated ICT and agricultural technology and innovative solution services the company offers.
The President was met by Group CEO, Serge Levy; COO, Faisal Matria and Agrocon Equipment CEO, Jason Smith, who took him on a tour of the company premises, explaining the range of ICT services and agricultural technology, innovative solutions and equipment the company offers.
Speaking at the end of the tour, President Mnangagwa said he was delighted by what he saw and described his tour as an eye opener.
“I am impressed by the state of the art technology here. Promoting ICTs is the way to go if Zimbabwe is to leapfrog the technological gap and catch up with the rest of the world in terms of technology and innovation,” he said.
He commended the company and its subsidiaries for being leaders in the provision of ICT and agricultural technology and innovation solutions which the rest of the country should adapt in order to create an environment of success.
President Mnangagwa was later presented with a plaque commemorating his visit and a Case II tractor.
The company is on the forefront of helping the government plug revenue leakages at parastatals such as ZINARA and through vehicle licencing by the Central Vehicle Registry (CVR).
The company is also in the process of computerising the Vehicle Inspection Department as well as the ZBC licensing systems to improve revenue collection.
