President Emmerson Mnangagwa has sent a message of condolences to the Gandire-Mhuri family following the death of Cde Timothy Gandire-Mhuri in Harare on Saturday.

In his message, President Mnangagwa said Cde Gandire-Mhuri’s death is a great loss, not only to his family which has lost a revered father and great parent but also both Zanu PF and Zimbabwe which he served with undivided loyalty during the days of the liberation struggle.

He described the late as a very humble and down to earth cadre saying he will be remembered for the great sacrifices he made alongside other cadres during the liberation struggle especially in Zambia where he provided food, shelter and mobility to freedom fighters from his transport business.

President Mnangagwa said after independence the late threw his weight behind Zanu PF loyally and faithfully as a member of the central committee representing the Midlands Province until the time of his death.

Cde Gandire-Mhuri who died following kidney failure has since been accorded a state assisted funeral.
